Veteran Japanese actress Keiko Kishi passed away on August 7 due to old age, at the age of 93. Her office confirmed the news on Wednesday (August 13).
Kishi began her acting career in the 1950s and quickly achieved success both domestically and internationally. She was known for many standout film roles over more than three decades before expanding into essay writing in the 1980s.
She was one of the defining faces of postwar Japanese cinema, leaving a lasting impression on audiences through numerous classic works. Her passing is a major loss to Japan's artistic culture.
