A blast rocked the town of Jaramana on the outskirts of the Syrian capital Damascus on Thursday, causing multiple deaths and injuries, according to state media.
Ekhbariya TV, citing a security source, reported that the explosion was believed to have been triggered by an explosive device attached to a vehicle, based on preliminary information.
Meanwhile, Al Jazeera sources indicated the blast occurred on a minibus carrying passengers. Details on the number and identities of the victims were not immediately disclosed.
An AFP correspondent at the scene said they saw multiple ambulances rushing to the affected area, where a main street had been cordoned off to traffic.
As of the time of reporting, Syria's Interior Ministry and security agencies had not issued an official statement, and no group had claimed responsibility for the incident.
