Nigeria has launched a search and rescue operation after a military aircraft carrying 32 people crashed in Ondo State in the country's southwest.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo said on Monday that wreckage from the plane had been located near a naval base in Igbokoda. The aircraft went missing while flying from Benin to Lagos.
"The wreckage has been found and search and rescue operations are continuing," Keyamo said in a statement on social media.
He added that preliminary information indicated there were 25 passengers and seven crew members on board.
Air traffic controllers lost contact with the aircraft at 09:13 local time (08:13 GMT). Subsequent attempts to reach it by radio were unsuccessful.
The Nigerian Air Force said the plane was an ATR-42 on a routine flight to Lagos. Rescue teams have been dispatched to the site.
Keyamo said he had spoken with the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and offered the Ministry of Aviation's "full cooperation and support" for the rescue effort.
Authorities have not confirmed casualties, and the extent of the damage to the aircraft remains unclear.
