Japan Warns Citizens Against Child Sexual Exploitation in Indonesia

The Japanese Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, on May 11, 2026, issued an official advisory cautioning Japanese citizens living, working, or planning to travel to Indonesia against involvement in child sexual exploitation.

According to the notice, violators will not only be prosecuted under Indonesian law but may also face legal action under Japanese law upon returning home. The move aims to prevent child sexual abuse within the Japanese community abroad.

The embassy affirmed it will cooperate closely with local authorities in investigating and handling related cases, while urging Japanese nationals to strictly adhere to legal regulations and ethical standards while abroad.
