On April 14, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, held a phone discussion on the progress of peace negotiations between the two countries. This marked the highest-level contact since the two nations restored diplomatic relations in March 2023.
According to a statement from Iran's Foreign Ministry, both sides exchanged views on bilateral and regional issues, emphasizing the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation. The Saudi foreign minister expressed hope that the talks would yield positive results, contributing to stability in the Middle East.
Previously, in March 2023, Iran and Saudi Arabia reached an agreement to restore diplomatic ties after a seven-year rupture, with China acting as mediator. Since then, the two countries have held several rounds of talks to resolve differences and boost cooperation in areas such as security, energy, and trade.
