Mysterious spray incident at Tokyo's Ginza shopping district leaves one hospitalized

Tokyo police reported on May 17 that a man is suspected of spraying an unknown substance at a commercial facility in the Ginza shopping district, leaving at least one person hospitalized and around 20 others reporting discomfort.

The incident occurred in the morning of the same day. According to initial information, the suspect sprayed a substance from a canister into the interior space of the building. Police are investigating the type of substance used and the motive behind the incident.

Those affected experienced symptoms including difficulty breathing and skin irritation, but their conditions are not life-threatening. Authorities cordoned off the area to ensure safety and collect evidence.

No arrests have been reported yet. The case is under further investigation by the authorities.
