According to Interfax, a senior Russian diplomat said on June 28 that Moscow is engaged in close interactions with Tehran and that bilateral relations continue to move in a positive direction.
Speaking at an event in Moscow, the official stressed that Russia and Iran regularly exchange high-level delegations and coordinate in a range of areas of mutual interest. He did not, however, provide details on the content or timing of recent contacts.
The two countries have previously stated on multiple occasions their desire to expand ties in the economic, energy and security spheres. Analysts say the recent high-level exchanges between Russia and Iran reflect efforts to keep dialogue channels open amid a complex regional and international landscape.
There is currently no specific information about the next stage of cooperation between Moscow and Tehran.
