At least three people have been killed in Russian attacks on Ukraine over the past 24 hours, despite a three-day ceasefire proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump that took effect on May 9. Russia also accuses Ukraine of over 1,000 ceasefire violations, while Ukrainian authorities report ongoing drone and artillery strikes across multiple regions.
At least three people have been killed in Russian attacks on Ukraine over the past 24 hours, despite a three-day ceasefire announced by U.S. President Donald Trump that came into effect on May 9. Regional authorities reported on May 11 that each death occurred in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kherson regions.
In the Kherson region, a 58-year-old woman died in a Russian drone attack on the village of Nezlamne on May 9, according to the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office. Governor Oleksandr Prokudin confirmed the death on Telegram, stating the woman was hit by shrapnel while walking on the road. He added that seven people, including a child, were also injured across the region by drone or artillery attacks since the start of May 10.
Ivan Fedorov, governor of the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, said one person was killed and three others wounded by artillery and drone strikes over the past 24 hours. In the northeastern Kharkiv region, Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that eight people, including two children, were injured in drone attacks on the city of Kharkiv and nearby settlements.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, a 46-year-old woman was killed and another person wounded on May 10 in the Mezhivska community near the city of Synelnykove, according to Governor Oleksandr Hanza. He added that on May 11, a child was injured in a nearby area.
Ukraine's air force said Russia launched 27 long-range drones into Ukraine overnight, a lower number than in recent days, and that air defenses intercepted all of them. Ukraine's General Staff said in its daily morning report that 147 combat engagements occurred along the front line in the past 24 hours.
Russia's Accusations
Russia's Defense Ministry said on May 11 that Ukraine had violated the ceasefire more than 1,000 times by launching drones and artillery at Russian soldiers and civilian targets in several Russian regions. The ministry said attacks were recorded in the annexed Crimea peninsula, as well as Russia's Belgorod, Kursk, Kaluga, Rostov, and Krasnodar regions. Russian forces claimed to have shot down 57 Ukrainian drones.
“Despite the declared ceasefire, Ukrainian armed units conducted attacks using drones and artillery against our military positions, as well as civilian targets,” the ministry said. The Russian military responded in kind. Two people were reportedly wounded by Ukrainian shelling in the Russian-occupied area of the Kherson region, according to Vladimir Saldo, the Moscow-appointed head of the region.
