At least two people have been killed in a Russian missile attack on Kyiv, while Moscow said it carried out a "large-scale attack" across Ukraine.
Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko said two people died in the densely populated Darnytskyi district in a fire caused by the overnight attack.
"Two people were rescued as emergency services put out the fire," he wrote on Telegram on Wednesday. "The bodies of two of the dead were found."
Russia's Defence Ministry said its forces carried out a "large-scale attack" on targets in Kyiv and several other regions of Ukraine.
According to the ministry, Russian forces struck port facilities in the Odesa region, as well as vessels used to serve the interests of Ukraine's armed forces.
Kyiv has endured repeated waves of air strikes in recent weeks, as Russia targets energy infrastructure, rail and road links, including bridges connecting the city across the Dnipro River.
Air raid alarms have sounded almost continuously day and night, urging residents to take shelter in basements, bomb shelters and metro stations.
