Russian drone and artillery attacks on Black Sea coastal cities and central Ukraine over the past 24 hours have left at least one person dead, several injured, and caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure. The strikes hit Odesa, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kherson oblasts.
Over the past 24 hours, Russia has intensified its fierce attacks on several areas of Ukraine, concentrating strikes overnight on April 24 into the early hours of April 25. The assaults killed at least one person and injured several others.
In Odesa Oblast (southern Ukraine), a Russian drone attack overnight damaged port infrastructure and wounded two people in the Black Sea port city of Odesa. Governor Oleh Kiper said two high-rise apartment buildings had apartments destroyed and fires broke out. “Tonight, Russia again massively attacked the civilian infrastructure of Odesa Oblast,” Kiper wrote on Telegram, adding that the victims were receiving assistance.
Russian forces also used drones to attack the shipbuilding town of Mykolaiv on the Black Sea. Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych announced on Facebook that residential areas were damaged, fires occurred, and warned of ongoing dangers, urging residents to stay in shelters.
On the Ukrainian side, on the night of April 24, Ukraine launched its fourth drone attack in a week on Russia’s Tuapse port on the Black Sea. The strikes continue to target Russian energy facilities in an effort to cut oil revenue. Russia’s General Staff in the Krasnodar region confirmed on Telegram that a fire broke out at the Tuapse seaport terminal area after the attack, and emergency crews were on site.
In central Ukraine, Russian forces attacked three districts of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast nearly 20 times using drones and artillery, wounding one person. Infrastructure in Kryvyi Rih was damaged. According to Interfax Ukraine, the strikes affected Synelnyky district and the communities of Dubovykivska and Petropavlivska, causing a garage and a car to catch fire, and damaging multiple homes. In Nikopol district, the communities of Nikopol, Marhanetska and Chervonohryhorivska suffered damage to houses, infrastructure, a gas station, an administrative building and several buses.
In Kherson Oblast, drone attacks continued over the past 24 hours in the areas of Kherson, Zymivnyk, Komyshany and Zelenivka. Yaroslav Shanko, head of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, wrote on Telegram: “Over the past day, four settlements in the Kherson community were attacked. As a result, one person was killed and eight wounded.” Private homes, high-rise buildings, administrative buildings, warehouses, buses and civilian cars were all damaged.
