Russia expands list of professions eligible for alternative civilian service

Russia expands the list of eligible professions for alternative civilian service from 271 to 363 positions. New additions include medical specialists, divers, welders, and electricians following updates to the national occupation classification.
MOSCOW, May 3 (TASS). According to a new order by the Russian Ministry of Labor that has taken effect, the list of occupations, jobs, and positions available for alternative civilian service in Russia has been expanded to 363 positions.
Compared to the previous list of just 271 items, the updated list includes many new professions such as orthopedic traumatologist, neurologist, diver, gas welder, forest firefighter, turner, assembler, electrician, zoologist, and several others.
This update is linked to amendments to the all-Russian classification of manual and intellectual labor occupations, which came into force at the beginning of this year. Earlier, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Labor said that about 1,700 positions had been added to this classification.
