India and West Indies had to settle for a 2-2 draw in their five-match T20 international series after Saturday's deciding game lasted only 48 minutes before rain forced a stoppage.
At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, play began one hour and 45 minutes behind schedule and was reduced to nine overs per side. India reached 118-5 after 7.4 overs when the rain returned, prompting the umpires to call off the match — with not even a five-over-per-side contest possible.
It was the first international staged at the venue since the India–New Zealand Test in October 2024. More than 20,000 spectators defied the poor weather to fill the stands.
Their patience was rewarded as India's batters cut loose after West Indies captain Shai Hope chose to field. Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson and Naman Dhir — who made 24 not out from just six balls — led the charge.
In their brief innings, India struck eight fours and seven sixes. Kishan brought up the series' 100th six by clearing the long-leg boundary off Romario Shepherd and out of the ground.
But the rain returned soon afterwards, ending any prospect of a decisive result.
