An Israeli airstrike in the southern suburbs of Beirut killed a senior Hezbollah Radwan commander, according to security sources. The strike hit an apartment where commanders were meeting, marking the first such attack on the capital since a ceasefire in April.
An Israeli airstrike targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut on Wednesday killed a senior commander of Hezbollah's special forces, a source close to the group told AFP.
The source identified the slain commander as Malek Ballout, a combat commander in the Radwan Force. Another Lebanese security source said the strike hit an apartment where commanders of the force were holding a meeting.
This is the first airstrike targeting the capital Beirut since a ceasefire agreement took effect in April.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he and Defense Minister Israel Katz had ordered the airstrike targeting a commander of Hezbollah's Radwan Force.
