Russian Forces Down Drone Over Industrial Zone in Vologda Region

Russian air defenses shot down a drone over an industrial site in the city of Cherepovets, Vologda Oblast, on the afternoon of May 2. The regional governor said emergency crews are at the scene. The Russian Defense Ministry also said it intercepted 123 Ukrainian drones over 13 regions that day.
MOSCOW – On May 2, Vologda Governor Georgy Filimonov announced on his Telegram channel that Russian defense forces had shot down a drone over an industrial zone in the city of Cherepovets, located in the northwestern Vologda region.
“Ministry of Defense forces have downed another UAV over the Cherepovets industrial site. Rescue teams are working at the scene,” Filimonov wrote.
Prior to the incident, drone alerts had been issued in the central Russian regions of Kostroma and Ivanovo.
Also on May 2, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that its air defense systems had intercepted a total of 123 Ukrainian drones over 13 regions, including Vologda, between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Moscow time (05:00–11:00 GMT).
