JAL flight delayed 40 minutes after crew member tests positive for alcohol

Japan Airlines (JAL) announced on May 17 that a domestic flight from Hiroshima to Tokyo's Haneda Airport was delayed by approximately 40 minutes last weekend after the airline had to replace a flight attendant who tested positive for alcohol in a blood test.

According to the airline, the attendant was found to have alcohol during a pre-flight screening. JAL immediately decided to substitute another crew member to ensure flight safety, resulting in the delay.

JAL stated that it has launched an internal investigation and will take disciplinary action against the attendant who violated regulations. This is not the first time the airline has faced an incident involving crew members consuming alcohol before work.

The company pledged to strengthen alcohol testing measures for all personnel directly involved in flight operations, aiming to prevent similar incidents from recurring and to ensure maximum passenger safety.
