Moscow will experience a significant warm-up in the first days of May, with the Russian Hydrometeorological Center forecasting temperatures to hit 20-21°C by May 3. The early holiday period starts cool with rain and near-freezing nights, but gives way to dry, sunny conditions.
From May 1, the first warm spells of May will appear in Moscow, driving away the lingering late-spring chill. Lyudmila Parshina, lead expert at the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, has released a detailed weather forecast for the early May holidays.
According to Parshina, May 1 will be cloudy with scattered light rain; daytime temperatures will range from 9 to 11°C. However, at night the mercury may drop to -1°C in the city center and between -1°C and -4°C in the suburbs.
On May 2, the sky will be mostly cloudy with little to no rain. Nighttime temperatures in the city will be 1-3°C, while on the outskirts they will range from -2°C to 3°C. During the day, temperatures will rise markedly, reaching 13-15°C in the city and 10-15°C in the suburbs.
May 3 will be overcast but dry. Nighttime temperatures in the city will be 6-8°C, with suburbs seeing 3-8°C. By day, the air will feel noticeably warmer: Moscow will register 18-20°C, while suburban areas could reach up to 16-21°C.
