Matsushima becomes first Japanese man to top ITTF world rankings

Sora Matsushima has become the first Japanese player to top the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) world rankings, the federation announced on Monday.

According to the ITTF, it is the first time a Japanese male player has held the world No. 1 position since the current computerized points system was introduced in 1991.

The achievement marks a significant step forward for Japanese table tennis, long regarded as one of the sport's strongholds in Asia.
