Manchester City have agreed to sell midfielder Rodri to Barcelona for £65.4 million (approximately $88.47 million), according to reports in the British media. The 30-year-old, who won the 2024 Ballon d'Or, is expected to complete the transfer at the Nou Camp next week.
According to Sky Sports, Rodri has reached a personal agreement with the Spanish champions on a four-year contract. The deal brings the Spanish midfielder back to his home country after seven years at Manchester City.
Rodri joined City from Atletico Madrid in 2019 for a then club-record fee of £62.8 million. In seven seasons at the Etihad, he made 298 appearances and won 12 major trophies, including four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, three League Cups, and one Champions League.
Rodri's contract with City had one year remaining, and the club had wanted him to extend. However, the Spanish player chose to return to his homeland. He recently underwent a minor back operation and only returned to training on Friday, so he was not involved in the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield on Sunday.
