On August 24, the Hosseini Infants Gathering festival officially took place in the port city of Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan province, southern Iran. The event attracted thousands of participants, including families, children, and Muslim devotees.
According to the organizers, the daylong festival featured a variety of activities such as parades, chanting, and lectures about the life of Imam Hussein, the Shiite Muslim saint. Children dressed in traditional attire took part in folk games and received souvenir gifts.
The Hosseini Infants Gathering is an annual event commemorating the infants who perished in the Battle of Karbala (680 AD). This year, the program also included food stalls, bookstalls, and handicraft booths brought by residents of Bandar Abbas and neighboring areas.
The Hormozgan provincial authorities deployed security forces, medical staff, and volunteers to ensure the safety of attendees. The festival concluded in the evening with a spectacular fireworks display along the Bandar Abbas coastline.
