Lamine Yamal, the Barcelona winger, has won La Liga's Player of the Season award. At just 18, he helped Barcelona successfully defend their domestic title while becoming the first player in league history to win Player of the Month three times in a single season.
Yamal ended the season as Barcelona's top La Liga scorer with 16 goals and also provided 11 assists. In a statement, the Catalan club emphasized: "He was a constant headache for opposing defenses, forcing them to put in huge efforts to stop the blaugrana's attacking threats. Beyond the intangible factors, the young Catalan netted 16 times and laid on 11 assists – no La Liga player had more passes leading to goals."
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick was also named Manager of the Year on Thursday.
Yamal missed several matches during the season due to groin issues and was sidelined for Barcelona's final six games after a hamstring injury. However, he is expected to recover in time to join Spain for the 2026 World Cup, which kicks off next week in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Yamal first burst onto the scene at age 16 and was a key factor in Spain's record fourth European Championship title in 2024.
