Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip killed at least five people, according to local health officials.
Two people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a crowd near a public park in Gaza City, an area crowded with displaced families, paramedics said. Several others were wounded in the incident.
In a separate development, another airstrike on a vehicle in the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood west of Gaza City killed at least three people.
The Israeli military said the two attacks targeted Hamas gunmen but provided no specific evidence.
Relatives and friends held a farewell ceremony on August 31 for two of the five victims at al-Shifa Hospital, Gaza’s largest medical facility, before taking the bodies for burial at a cemetery.
Israel has escalated attacks across the Gaza Strip in recent days despite the “ceasefire” agreement reached in October. An Israeli airstrike on Deir el-Balah in central Gaza on August 30 killed two Palestinians, including a 3-year-old boy. Earlier, on August 29, Israeli attacks also killed at least four people.
“There is no ceasefire. Not a single day in Gaza has been good since October 7, 2023,” Amjad Abu Abdo, a relative of one of the victims killed on August 31, told Reuters. “I swear to God, we cannot sleep because of the noise of drones. You sleep in fear of being hit.”
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 1,313 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since the “ceasefire” between Israel and Hamas took effect.
The Palestinian Center for the Missing and Forcibly Disappeared said on August 30 that approximately 4,000 to 5,000 Palestinians remain missing and are believed dead under the rubble in Gaza.
On the Israeli side, the military reported that five soldiers have been killed since October, as well as one civilian contractor.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, since the start of Israel’s war in Gaza in October 2023, nearly 73,500 Palestinians have been confirmed dead and nearly 174,500 wounded, mostly women and children.
