Gaza's Civil Defense said an Israeli airstrike on Wednesday targeted a tuk-tuk near the western roundabout in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, killing one person and wounding five others.
The victim was identified as Mohanad Saada. His body and the five wounded were transferred to al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.
Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said Saada was a member of a municipal maintenance team returning after repairing a water well damaged in previous military operations.
Basal told AFP: "It is true that Israeli airstrikes and assassinations nearly stopped completely for more than a week, but today the occupation forces resumed bombing from the air."
The Israeli military said the operation targeted a Hamas commander actively planning attacks on Israeli forces.
Despite the reduction in airstrike intensity after international diplomatic talks, Israeli forces have continued ground shelling and drone attacks.
Al Jazeera reporters in Gaza reported at least two other Israeli attacks on Wednesday, including a quadcopter drone strike in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, which wounded a father and seriously injured his son, and shelling near the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.
The father of the seriously wounded 13-year-old told Al Jazeera that his son was hit by shrapnel in the head and leg, lying in a pool of blood after the blast. He recounted: "I had just bought some falafel and was walking when suddenly something like a bomb exploded. People ran in all directions. I saw my son lying on the ground, bleeding from the head."
The attacks came days after Israel announced its rejection of the latest version of a plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza.
Trump unveiled a 15-point plan drafted by the Peace Council, including the "complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza," which he called a "historic step toward lasting peace and security." Hamas endorsed the plan, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu formally rejected the document on Sunday.
Since the U.S.-backed "ceasefire" took effect in October, Israeli attacks have killed more than 1,250 Palestinians in Gaza, most of them civilians.
At least 73,388 Palestinians have been killed and 174,259 others wounded since Israel launched its military campaign against Palestinians in Gaza on October 7, 2023.
