The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) of South Korea said on August 21 that the number of complaints and petitions related to electric vehicles submitted by citizens to the government has nearly doubled in the past three years.
According to data released by the agency, the total number of EV-related complaints and petitions during the 2023–2025 period increased by 1.8 times compared to the previous three years. This figure reflects the public's growing concern over issues arising from EV usage, battery charging, and the charging infrastructure.
The ACRC noted that the majority of complaints focus on issues such as the cost of installing charging stations, battery safety, and inconveniences in warranty and repair services for electric vehicles. The agency also recorded an increase in reports concerning parking and charging regulations in apartment complexes.
In light of this situation, the ACRC has proposed that relevant state management agencies consider policy adjustments to address the issues raised by citizens, thereby contributing to promoting the safe and convenient use of electric vehicles in South Korea.
