BUSAN – The system of public guesthouses for foreign tourists in the southern port city of Busan, South Korea, is nearly fully booked ahead of a K-pop group BTS concert scheduled for June.
The city government reported that bookings surged after the concert schedule was announced, leaving almost no vacancies in these public lodgings. This marks one of the rarest spikes in reservations for this type of accommodation, typically used by budget travelers.
BTS, a seven-member South Korean boy band, is set to perform in Busan in June, drawing a massive number of domestic and international fans. Local authorities are urgently coordinating with private hotels and organizers to secure enough lodging for visitors.
In addition to public guesthouses, many commercial hotels in central Busan have also reported high occupancy rates for the same period. City officials urge tourists to book early to avoid last-minute room shortages.
