Kawasaki Heavy to Launch Dog-Shaped Social Robot in Fiscal 2028

Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. announced on Tuesday that it plans to launch a dog-shaped social robot in fiscal 2028. The product is designed to assist in elderly care, as labor shortages in the nursing and healthcare sector become increasingly severe.

According to the company, the dog-shaped robot will be built to interact with people, helping to reduce some of the workload pressure on caregivers. It is part of efforts to apply robotic technology to social fields, particularly as Japan faces a rapidly aging population.

Kawasaki Heavy added that it will continue to develop and refine the product before officially commercializing it in fiscal 2028. Details on technical specifications and pricing have not been disclosed.
