On the evening of August 11, Ireland continued their stunning run by beating T20 world champions India by a solitary run in the second T20 international at Stormont, Belfast. The victory gave the home side a 2-0 series win.
Ireland posted 154 for 8 in their 20 overs, with a standout performance from Harry Tector, who scored a half-century in his 100th T20 international. A delivery from Jai Moondra, an Indian-born bowler, removed Sanju Samson (lbw) with the very first ball of India's chase.
Moondra also dismissed Abhishek Sharma in the same over, before sending back India captain Shreyas Iyer cheaply. Despite Tilak Varma's 55 and Harshit Rana's late 21 after a rain delay, India could only manage 153 for 9, falling agonisingly short.
The 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who impressed in the IPL with 776 runs for the Rajasthan Royals, was again not handed his debut in this series, as was the case in the first match. Sooryavanshi's next opportunity for an international debut will be in the first T20 against England at Chester-le-Street on August 13.
