Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi expressed satisfaction with the coordination between Iran and Iraq in organizing the annual Arbaeen pilgrimage, one of the world's largest religious events with millions of participants.
Speaking during a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein on the sidelines of a conference, Araghchi stressed that the two countries have taken effective coordinated steps in ensuring travel, security, and support services for pilgrims, contributing to a successful and safe Arbaeen season.
The Iranian foreign minister also praised Iraq's spirit of cooperation in facilitating the journey of Iranian pilgrims to the holy city of Karbala, affirming that bilateral relations between Tehran and Baghdad are in a good phase and should be further consolidated.
According to official figures, over 3 million Iranians took part in this year's Arbaeen pilgrimage, with coordinated efforts between the two sides helping to reduce congestion and improve service quality at shared border crossings.
The Arbaeen pilgrimage takes place 40 days after the commemoration of Imam Hussein, grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, and is considered one of the largest religious gatherings globally. The event not only holds deep spiritual significance but also serves as an opportunity to promote cultural and social cooperation among Islamic nations.
