On August 28, an Iranian delegation led by Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Akbar Ahmadian attended the annual meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's (SCO) Security Council Secretaries in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek.
According to Iranian state media, the meeting centered on enhancing security cooperation among SCO member states, including counterterrorism, combating separatism, and addressing transnational crime. Delegates also exchanged views on emerging security challenges and coordinated measures to maintain regional stability.
This marks Iran's second participation in an SCO security conference since it became a full member of the organization in July 2023. Iran's involvement is expected to further promote multilateral security cooperation in Central and Southwest Asia.
