Tehran - Iran has announced that its defense weapons production has doubled within a year, according to a statement from the country's Ministry of Defense.
Speaking at a military event, Iran's Deputy Defense Minister Mehdi Farahi confirmed that the production rate of various weapons and military equipment has increased by 100% compared to the same period last year. He stressed that this growth is part of the strategy to enhance Iran's self-sufficiency in the defense sector.
"We have achieved remarkable progress in supplying the necessary equipment to the armed forces, reducing dependence on external sources," Farahi said.
The move comes amid continued economic sanctions and restrictions on military technology transfers from the West. Tehran has long prioritized the development of domestic defense programs, including the production of drones, missiles, and air defense systems.
Analysts suggest that the increased weapons production may be linked to recent geopolitical tensions in the region, as well as efforts to bolster Iran's standing on the international stage.
No specific details have been released regarding the quantity or types of weapons produced during this period.
