Tehran – On June 26, an Iranian Foreign Ministry official formally denied reports suggesting that Iran holds a negative view of China's role in regional and international affairs.
Speaking at a press conference in the capital Tehran, the official stressed that allegations published by some media outlets are completely false and do not reflect Iran's official stance. According to him, relations between Iran and China have always been built on mutual respect and mutually beneficial cooperation.
The official also reaffirmed that Tehran and Beijing maintain regular exchanges at various levels and cooperate closely on bilateral issues as well as within multilateral forums such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Earlier, some unofficial sources claimed that a senior Iranian Foreign Ministry official had made negative remarks about China's foreign policy, causing misunderstanding among the public. However, the latest statement from Iran has helped clarify and cool such speculation.
The move comes as Iran is strengthening ties with Asian countries, including China, to boost economic cooperation and cope with pressures from international sanctions.
