Tehran – On October 1, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that it had fired a salvo of ballistic missiles targeting U.S. airbases that host advanced F-35, F-15, and F-16 fighter jets.
In an official statement, the IRGC said the attack was in retaliation for recent “provocative actions and violations of sovereignty” by the United States. The chosen targets included parking areas and runways used by Washington’s most modern fighter squadrons in the region.
Iranian military officials stated that the strike used long-range, high-precision ballistic missiles designed to evade advanced air-defense systems. There has been no independent confirmation of damage or casualties from the U.S. side.
This is the first time the IRGC has publicly targeted fifth-generation fighter aircraft such as the F-35, considered America’s aerial “ace.” The incident occurs amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington over Iran’s nuclear program and confrontations across the Middle East.
International observers assess that this attack could push the region into a large-scale military conflict, while raising questions about the effectiveness of U.S. missile-defense systems.
