Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Monday stressed that the Islamic Republic must always remain a standing warning to aggressive regimes in order to deter any potential threats. He made the remarks during a meeting with senior military and political officials in Tehran.
According to the speech, Khamenei emphasized that defense capability is not just a deterrent tool but a decisive factor in maintaining long-term security and stability. He said: “Iran must become a standing warning to aggressive regimes, so they never dare to think of attacking.”
The Supreme Leader also praised the efforts of the armed forces in developing defense capabilities, from missiles to space technology, calling these achievements a product of self-reliance that has helped Iran maintain the initiative amid external pressures. He stressed that continuing to enhance deterrence is a strategic priority, despite sanctions and Western attempts to limit the country's defense program.
The remarks came amid escalating regional tensions, particularly involving clashes with Israel and the U.S. military presence in the Middle East. Observers suggest Khamenei's message is intended to convey to both domestic and international audiences Tehran's firm stance against any provocative actions.
Previously, Iranian leaders have repeatedly declared readiness to respond strongly to any attack, insisting that missile and nuclear programs serve peaceful and defensive purposes, not targeting any specific country. However, Western nations continue to express doubts about the nature of these programs.
Khamenei's speech is seen as a signal that Iran remains committed to strengthening its military capabilities despite diplomatic and economic pressures, as the international community closely monitors developments in the Gulf region.
