According to a recent announcement by Iran's Ministry of Energy, the country has risen to a position among the top five nations worldwide in power plant technology. The news comes as Tehran pushes forward with a strategy of self-sufficiency in energy equipment and engineering.
Speaking at an industry conference, an official from Iran's Ministry of Energy stated that mastering technology from design and manufacturing to operation has helped the country advance significantly on the global energy map. Iran now produces the majority of key equipment for thermal and gas power plants domestically, reducing dependence on foreign suppliers.
The Iranian representative also emphasized that domestic power plants operate reliably and achieve high efficiency, particularly under harsh climatic conditions. This localization capability not only serves domestic needs but also opens up prospects for exporting technical services and power equipment to regional countries.
Previously, Iran signed several energy cooperation agreements with neighboring and friendly nations, including technology transfer and support for power plant construction. The rise to the top five globally is seen as a result of a multi-year sustainable energy development program.
However, independent experts suggest that to maintain its ranking, Iran must continue investing in research and development to enhance efficiency, while also updating itself on clean energy trends and emission reduction, which are increasingly stringent requirements from the international community.
