Tehran on October 23 strongly condemned an Israeli airstrike on the Dahieh district, a residential and commercial hub in the Lebanese capital Beirut. According to Iranian state media, the attack killed at least 12 people and wounded more than 30, mostly civilians. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani called the action a 'war crime' and a 'flagrant violation of international law.'
Iran urged the international community to 'act immediately' to halt Israeli attacks on Lebanon, warning that global inaction would only encourage Tel Aviv to continue its aggressive actions. Tehran also expressed support for Hezbollah, the Iran-backed armed group in Lebanon, and accused Israel of 'destabilizing' the region.
The attack came amid escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, with cross-border clashes and rocket fire becoming increasingly frequent. Dahieh is considered a Hezbollah stronghold and has been targeted by Israeli airstrikes multiple times in the past. Neither Israel nor Lebanon has commented on the incident so far.
