On March 1, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian presided over the inauguration ceremony of 158 transportation projects in the northern provinces of the country. The projects were launched simultaneously to strengthen infrastructure connectivity and boost regional socio-economic development.
According to the Iranian Presidential Office, these projects include roads, railways, bridges, and auxiliary structures. The total investment is estimated at tens of trillions of rials (approximately several hundred million USD), sourced from both the state budget and private capital.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of completing transportation infrastructure in the national development strategy. He stated that these projects will shorten travel times, reduce logistics costs, facilitate trade and tourism, and contribute to lowering traffic accidents.
Representatives from Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development noted that the inaugurated projects are part of the government's comprehensive plan to modernize the transportation system, particularly in densely populated areas and key economic corridors. Many of the projects were built according to new technical standards, ensuring long-term safety and sustainability.
Earlier, the Iranian government had announced major investment packages for transportation infrastructure to attract foreign investment, expand interregional transport networks, and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy.
