Iran Urges OIC to Take More Active Role in Addressing Challenges Facing the Islamic World

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to play a more active role in addressing the issues confronting the Islamic world, in a conversation with the OIC Secretary-General.

According to information from the Iranian side, Araghchi stressed that the OIC — as the most important multilateral mechanism of the Islamic world — needs to be more proactive in coordinating common positions and advancing collective efforts in the face of current challenges.

The exchange took place as a range of regional and international issues involving Muslim countries continue to draw public attention, including developments in the Middle East.

The two sides are said to have discussed ways to strengthen coordination within the OIC framework, as well as measures to improve the organisation's effectiveness in the period ahead.
