On September 30, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei offered condolences to the government and people of Nepal over the severe floods and landslides that struck the South Asian nation.
In a statement, Baghaei conveyed deep sympathy to the families of the victims and expressed hope for swift news about those still missing. The Iranian diplomat also extended condolences to all those affected by the natural disaster.
According to Nepalese authorities, days of heavy rainfall triggered flash floods and landslides across multiple regions, killing at least 200 people and injuring many others. Rescue operations are underway to search for the missing and assist affected communities.
Iran was among the first countries to voice condolences after the disaster, underscoring international solidarity in addressing climate change and increasingly severe extreme weather events.
