Within the framework of BRICS discussions, Iran has officially put forward a proposal to establish a cross-border financial corridor, emphasizing the goal of enhancing connectivity among the banking systems and capital markets of member countries.
According to the proposal, this corridor would operate as a common coordination mechanism, helping to reduce dependence on traditional payment channels while facilitating the flow of capital among emerging economies. Iranian officials believe the initiative would contribute to diversifying transaction routes, thereby supporting import-export activities and bilateral investment.
Iran's representative also stressed that establishing a dedicated financial corridor would enable BRICS members to respond more proactively to global economic fluctuations. The proposal is expected to be placed on the group's next agenda for detailed study and discussion among all parties.
Analysts suggest that, if implemented, the financial corridor initiated by Iran could open a new path for intra-bloc financial cooperation, laying the groundwork for future bilateral and multilateral payment agreements.
