According to Iran's state news agency, at the 24th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO member countries held in Astana, Kazakhstan, a senior Iranian official stressed the importance of member states maintaining clear positions as the world faces sensitive times.
Speaking at the summit, the official affirmed that the SCO should play a more proactive role on the international stage, particularly in addressing regional security and economic challenges. He argued that close cooperation and a unified voice among member states would significantly contribute to maintaining common stability and prosperity.
Iran became a full member of the SCO in 2023. The organization now comprises nine official members: China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Iran.
Founded in 2001, the SCO aims to promote security, economic, and cultural cooperation among its members. This summit is expected to adopt several important documents to enhance coordinated action among member states.
