Speaking at a press conference, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman emphasized that the oil spills in the waters around Qeshm are not coincidental but are linked to exercises, warship movements, and other military operations by foreign forces regularly present in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has collected preliminary evidence and will submit it to international organizations, requesting an independent investigation.
Qeshm Island, Iran's largest island in the Persian Gulf, is home to mangrove forests, coral reefs, and numerous rare marine species.
