On March 24, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani strongly criticized recent accusations made by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz concerning human rights and Iran’s nuclear program.
Speaking at a regular press briefing, Kanaani described Scholz’s statements as “unfounded, unobjective, and selective.” He stressed that the German chancellor’s allegations, based on false or unverified information, do nothing to benefit bilateral relations or accurately reflect the reality in Iran.
The Iranian spokesman warned that any form of interference in Iran’s internal affairs is unacceptable. He urged Germany to exercise greater caution and responsibility in its remarks, avoiding unnecessary escalation of tensions.
“We hope the German government will reconsider its approach, based on respect for sovereignty and the principle of non-interference,” Kanaani added.
Earlier, Chancellor Scholz had criticized Iran over human rights and its nuclear program, expressing concern that Tehran continues to enrich uranium beyond the limits set by the 2015 nuclear deal.
Iran’s reaction underscores Tehran’s firm stance on defending national sovereignty and rejecting what it views as outside interference. Relations between Iran and Germany have been tense, especially after Germany closed Iran’s consular offices in the country in February 2025.
