On December 12, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei dismissed recent media speculation about the possibility of Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi traveling to New York. Baghaei emphasized that the information is unfounded and that there are currently no plans for such a visit.
Speaking at a press conference, the spokesperson stated: “All speculation about Foreign Minister Araghchi’s visit to New York is baseless. We have no plans or agenda related to this trip.”
Earlier rumors suggested that Araghchi might attend meetings at the United Nations or hold bilateral talks on the sidelines. However, Tehran quickly quashed these reports.
The move comes amid escalating tensions between Iran and the West over the nuclear program and regional issues. Iran frequently faces various speculations from international media about its diplomatic activities.
