Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei officially rejected statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding Iran's nuclear program on December 4. The remarks came amid months of escalating tensions between the two countries.
In a statement, Baqaei stressed that Netanyahu's accusations were "baseless and politically motivated." He affirmed that Iran's nuclear program is entirely peaceful, in compliance with international standards and under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
According to the Iranian spokesman, statements from Israel aim to distract public opinion from the real issues in the region. He also called on the international community not to believe misinformation from Tel Aviv.
Earlier, Prime Minister Netanyahu repeatedly accused Iran of seeking to develop nuclear weapons, despite Tehran consistently denying such intentions and affirming it does not pursue weapons of mass destruction. Israel, which is widely believed to be the only nuclear-armed state in the Middle East, though not officially declared, views Iran as its top security threat.
Tensions between Iran and Israel have escalated over the past year, with mutual retaliatory attacks. However, Tehran maintains its steadfast position that its nuclear program serves energy and medical purposes, never aiming at military objectives.
