UFC Freedom 250 will take place on June 14 in Washington, DC, headlined by Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje for the UFC lightweight championship. Promoted as the biggest MMA event of 2026, the fight is a key part of the Freedom 250 celebration.
The 155-pound (70 kg) bout will be held outdoors on the South Lawn of the White House, with an expected capacity of 4,300 to 5,000 guests. Among them, 1,200 seats are reserved for active-duty military personnel. The remaining allocation is shared among UFC, TKO Group, and the White House. The organization will also provide tens of thousands of free tickets for fans watching from the nearby 52-acre Ellipse park.
The main card begins at 8 p.m. ET (00:00 GMT Monday), with Topuria and Gaethje's ring walks expected around 9:30 p.m. ET (01:30 GMT Monday).
Why the White House?
This UFC event is part of the Freedom 250 celebration organized by the Trump administration, running alongside the America250 series of events funded by Congress to mark 250 years since the signing of the U.S. Declaration of Independence (July 4, 1776). June 14 also coincides with President Trump's 80th birthday. Trump has a long-standing relationship with UFC spanning more than two decades.

Why Topuria vacated the featherweight belt?
In December 2025, Topuria announced a hiatus from competition to address what he called false “extortion” allegations. This led to the interim lightweight title fight between Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett at UFC 324. Topuria will enter the cage after nearly a year away, since his knockout win over Charles Oliveira in June 2025. Despite the layoff, ESPN still ranks him No. 2 in the pound-for-pound world rankings.
Gaethje vs. Pimblett recap
Gaethje won by unanimous decision over Pimblett on January 24 in Las Vegas, marking the second time in his career he earned the interim lightweight belt. He controlled most of the fight with 56% significant strike accuracy and three successful takedowns, winning 49-46, 49-46, 48-47.
Expected celebrity guests
UFC President Dana White revealed an invitation list featuring Hollywood stars like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Adam Sandler, Jason Statham, and NFL legend Tom Brady.
Why not Makhachev?
The super fight between Topuria and Islam Makhachev did not materialize due to a failure to reach a financial agreement. That matchup could happen in the future at a larger venue such as T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Pereira vs. Gane
Alex Pereira (13-3) will face Ciryl Gane (13-2) for the interim heavyweight title. Pereira, a two-division champion (middleweight and light heavyweight), aims to become the first three-division champion in UFC history. Gane, a French fighter and former interim heavyweight champion, possesses elite power and striking technique.
Fight analysis
Topuria, nicknamed “El Matador,” holds an undefeated 17-0 record. He knocked out Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway at featherweight before defeating Charles Oliveira at lightweight. Commentator Alan Jouban said: “Skill-wise, he might be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.”
Gaethje (27-5) is expected to avoid a straight boxing match, instead using powerful leg kicks and grappling to tire his opponent. He holds advantages in height (1.8m vs. 1.7m) and reach (1.78m vs. 1.75m).
