ICC Strongly Condemns US Sanctions

In a statement issued on Saturday, the International Criminal Court (ICC) said it "firmly opposes" the sanctions imposed by the United States targeting the court and its officials.

According to the announcement, the ICC expressed deep concern over the move, describing it as an interference in the court's independent judicial work. The body stressed its commitment to continuing its mandate of trying the most serious international crimes, despite outside pressure.

The development was reported against a backdrop of repeated tensions between the ICC and the Washington administration over the court's investigations targeting US citizens and allies.

The ICC's response was widely reported by international news outlets, including Kyodo News. The statement did not specify the scope or content of the sanctions, but underscored the court's firm stance in the face of US pressure.

So far, the US side has not issued any additional official response to the ICC's latest statement.
