Interim coach Michihisa Kano officially takes over Japan women's national team

The Japan Football Association (JFA) officially announced on May 11 that Michihisa Kano has been appointed as the head coach of the women's national team. Kano had been serving as interim coach since his predecessor, Nils Nielsen, was dismissed.

The decision came after an evaluation process in which the JFA leadership praised Kano's competence and the stability he brought to the team during his temporary stint.

Kano, a former assistant coach, has made positive contributions to maintaining consistent performance by the Japan women's national team. The permanent appointment aims to provide reassurance to the squad ahead of upcoming major tournaments.
