The English Football Association announced on Wednesday that it has fined Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa $33,163 and issued him a warning over comments he made following a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in September.
According to the FA, Arbeloa suggested bias and/or questioned the integrity of a match official in his post-match interview. The English governing body said Arbeloa admitted the charge.
The match was played at Craven Cottage on 20 September. Manchester United salvaged a 1-1 draw through a Matheus Cunha goal in the 89th minute, after the ball took a deflection, earning a Premier League point.
Speaking after the game, Arbeloa said: "I know after the Manchester City game that they don't let Manchester United lose here." He was referring to an earlier United league match, when Erling Haaland scored to seal a 1-0 win for a City side reduced to 10 men at Old Trafford. The goal was initially disallowed for offside before being awarded after a lengthy and controversial VAR review.
Arbeloa, 43, a Spaniard, took charge of Fulham in July and is still searching for his first Premier League win with the London club. Fulham sit bottom of the table with two points from six matches.
