Passenger Given Suspended Sentence for Attempting to Open Emergency Exit Mid-Flight

A court in Daegu, South Korea, handed down a suspended prison sentence on October 13 to a passenger who attempted to open an emergency exit door on a flight from Bangkok to Daegu last year.

Under the ruling, the passenger was convicted of endangering aviation safety by trying to open one of the aircraft's emergency exits while the flight was under way.

The incident occurred on a flight from Bangkok, Thailand, to Daegu and was heard at a local court. The specific sentence and detailed circumstances of the case were not fully disclosed in initial information.

Tampering with emergency exits during a flight is regarded as a serious threat to the safety of passengers and crew, and is typically handled strictly under aviation security regulations.
