The Islamic movement Hamas issued a statement on March 22 confirming its acceptance of a second-phase ceasefire roadmap for the Gaza Strip, while calling on the international community and mediating parties to exert pressure to ensure the agreement is implemented seriously.
According to sources within Hamas, the roadmap includes concrete steps to stabilize the humanitarian situation, expand aid delivery, and move toward a lasting ceasefire. The statement stressed that ending all military actions and ensuring freedom of movement for Palestinian residents are top priorities.
Earlier, negotiations mediated by Egypt and Qatar made progress in narrowing differences between the two sides. Hamas said it will continue coordinating with mediators to finalize remaining procedures and expressed hope that Israel will also seriously honor its commitments.
There has been no official response yet from Israel regarding Hamas's latest statement. Observers view it as a positive signal amid the prolonged conflict, but many challenges remain as key issues such as prisoner exchanges and border control have not been fully resolved.
