A Palestinian man was killed and several wounded in an Israeli drone strike on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza on December 7, as Israel continues to violate the October ceasefire. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with a Hamas official in Ankara on the same day to discuss peace efforts and humanitarian aid for Gaza.
On December 7, a Palestinian man was killed and several others wounded when an Israeli drone struck a motorcycle west of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. Medical sources confirmed to Anadolu Agency that the victim was Eyad al-Motawwaq, but did not specify the number of wounded.
Witnesses said the attack occurred outside the area where Israeli troops are deployed under the ceasefire agreement. On the same day, Israel also shelled the eastern part of the Tuffah district in Gaza City, though no casualties were reported.
Earlier, Al Jazeera correspondent Tariq Abou Azzoum, reporting from the Shati camp in Gaza City, confirmed that at least four people were wounded in another airstrike on an area Israel had designated as safe.
Gaza's Health Ministry reported that over the past 48 hours, at least four people have been killed and 15 wounded across the Strip. Some victims remain trapped under rubble.
Since the ceasefire took effect in October, at least 850 Palestinians have been killed and 2,433 wounded in Israeli attacks, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Israeli forces now occupy approximately 60% of Gaza's territory, demarcated by a buffer zone known as the "golden line."
Israel's war on Gaza, which began in October 2023, has killed 72,736 people, wounded over 172,000, destroyed 90% of civilian infrastructure, and displaced nearly all of the Strip's two million residents.
Against this backdrop, on December 7, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Muhammad Darwish, head of Hamas's advisory Shura Council, in Ankara to discuss peace efforts in Gaza and humanitarian aid initiatives. Sources from the Turkish Foreign Ministry said Fidan declared that Israel's expanding presence and obstruction of humanitarian aid in Gaza were "unacceptable." He also stressed that the war in the region must not overshadow the Palestinian issue, and expressed opposition to any efforts to force Palestinians out of Gaza.
